I just finished another 6-week weight loss program with a great group of women who have found a new freedom around food. It is amazing how a little knowledge and a lot of awareness can change the way you approach eating. From the way you shop, cook, and even chew; a little info goes a long way to empowerment.
We all have areas in our lives that we feel we could get a better handle on; maybe its finances, time management or relationship skills. For the people I work with it tends to be around eating habits and weight loss.
Throughout life and over time, we rewrite the script on sustenance. We become complacent about our choices, eating the same foods day in and day out; for years! We don’t question why we are eating at a specific time, or why we don’t eat certain things, or even if our diet is balanced or not.
However, if your finances needed fixing, you would gain control by seeking the help of a professional, reading books, and taking a good hard look at your earnings, expenses and investments.
Why not approach eating in the same way? A deeper understanding is often all we need to make things right. Take a class, read labels, learn to cook. Education is power.
So if eating is one of those areas in your life you can’t seem to get a handle on, approach it like you would a new skill. Don’t assume you know it all, be willing to uncover the weak spots, and be enthusiastic about the changes to come.
Freedom around food comes from the power of knowing, and I know you can do this.
