When it comes to weight loss, portion control plays a huge part in your success. Weighing foods and counting calories can be time consuming and cumbersome, so anytime I can make it easier for you, I will. So cue up the band and make room for The King, the ramekin. Or as I prefer to call it, the ramekin(g). This is a great tool to add to your weight loss arsenal. What makes this little cup so royally special is that it is the perfect size portion for a grain or starchy carbohydrate. Things like rice, pasta, beans, lentils, potatoes, bread, etc. Why such a small serving you ask? In general, carbohydrates and starches have the greatest effect on your blood sugar levels. And blood sugar control is very important when you are trying to lose weight. However, the biggest reason is that these are the foods we tend to over eat the most and have the biggest cravings for. Rethink your starch portions. Add more non-starchy vegetables, protein and fruits to your diet. This small change will add up to big results. All hail the King!
